My
dear sister,
I can tell you
the progress Samuel has made. He has just left the intensive care unit where he was
transferred. The surgeon is highly confident in Samuel’s abilities to regain a
full mobility. He seems to be satisfied with what he did. I know that you saw
our brother in a worrying state of health, and I can ensure you he’s doing as
well as possible now. Actually, he’s complaining and
grumbling again.
Dad
and Mom start to overcome this ordeal. Every day they visit Samuel who waits
eagerly for them, but gets tired quickly. Dad bears as best as he can the atmosphere
of the hospital, but it weighs upon him.
Samuel gets access to very good treatments. The head of the surgery department introduced himself and personally asked for Samuel’s progress. Having the same recognition as a peer, Samuel receives a constant attention. However, he doesn’t seem very interested in information and explanation he usually gets. The only question he raises is related to the day of his exit from the hospital. The surgeon has mentioned the need for rehabilitation; it will be a long way before a return to self-sufficiency.
Time runs so slowly for him, I can understand him. He is on enforced rest, and doesn’t remember anything of his spell in the intensive care unit. His muscles are weakened and he doesn’t have so many activity. I brought some books for him, he put them aside. Now he’s in a standard room with phone and television at his disposal but never pays attention to it.
He was not used to watching television before this stupid accident. In order to work, he has requested me to bring his computer and to find a web connection. He gets tired quickly, but he needs to find something to do.
Sometimes, he has a look at his phone, waiting for a possible call. Some people try to get news. He gives some, in an unconcerned manner, as he was talking about somebody else.
He doesn’t remember your visits in intensive care unit. He asked me to hear from you, and I have told him you would come and see him. Will it be possible soon? I think it would please him.
Lots of love to you all,
Guillaume.
