November 4th

My dear sister,

I’m glad you could come and see Samuel, even briefly. As you could see, he is improving. He’s making progress on his thesis and he’s planning to go back to work. It’s still too early, but the surgeon thinks it’s a very good motivation. Samuel does not realize he will not keep up with his former pace. He must rest and rehabilitation is quite intensive, because he’s improving very well.

He wants to come back home, he thinks it’s possible. I understand very well his wishes to get out of this place, full of disabled people. He does not use crutches anymore and it seems odd here between this ballet of wheeled chairs and sticks.

He says his work will be easier if he can go to the library or university to check his research. He’s longing for sources he needs. He can’t find everything published on the web, though he spent much money to subscribe to technical websites.

He’s not really clear-headed on his wealth, but he may need to get out of here and come back home to deal himself with his limits. He’s not very fair, as you could see. He’s impatient and it’s sad to say he came back to his tantrum which used to terrorize us, as children.

His surgeon says it’s normal. Nobody gets out untouched of such an accident and coma. It will improve in time, or he should have to get seen. I didn’t point it to the surgeon. But I doubt Samuel would get some help, considering what he thinks of psychotherapists.

However, he’s as well as possible.

I hope you’re fine too.

Kisses to all of you,

Guillaume
